Where Do I-185’s New Funds Go?

I-185 is a massive tax increase that is projected to generate $74 million in new revenues annually by Fiscal Year 2023. But, I-185 is full of fine print that divvies up the new tax funds it will generate. I-185 also includes statutory caps on all of its special allocations.

More than half of I-185’s new revenue goes to the General Fund and existing programs. Here’s a breakdown of where these new funds will end up going when the statutory caps are taken into account:

I-185 Doesn’t Add Up

I-185 is a massive tax increase that bypasses the Legislature to lock Medicaid Expansion into law without planned oversight, eliminating scheduled evaluations and avoiding much needed cost controls. I-185 deceptively claims to fund Medicaid Expansion but doesn’t provide enough new revenues to pay for this costly entitlement program.

Say NO to this deceptive cash grab.
